Service Description

Beginners and Improvers Lino Printing with Zoe Platt Saturday June 15th 1pm to 3pm £48.00 for the session All materials provided including coloured inks. Lino printing is a relief-printing process where you carve your design from a block of linoleum, and ink up the areas that are left behind. It is a printing process that dates back to the mid 1800s. Once you have a design, you can make multiple copies of it. In this workshop you will be introduced to the printing process of lino printing, a form of relief/block printing that involves carving a design into a surface of linoleum, removing what you don't want to print and leaving behind what you do. It is called a 'relief' process meaning that whatever is raised up will catch the ink, and whatever is carved away will remain the colour of the paper.  You will be shown how to use the tools safely and effectively. We will cut a range of designs to make a design, and test how these will look when printed through taking rubbings. We will end the workshop by cutting our own designs and learning how to ink and print them to make single-colour prints. You will leave with a collection of prints – to keep or give away! This is a beginners and improvers workshop, exploring a 'jigsaw' technique using colour. Please be aware that lino cutting requires a certain amount of strength and dexterity in the use of the tools. This workshop will have a maximum capacity of 8 adults. In this 3 hour concise workshop you will progress rapidly through the technique to being able to print your own design by the end of the session. You will then be have the basic knowledge to go ahead with this exciting form of printing on your own or to take a next level class.  ABOUT THE ARTIST TUTOR: Website: Social Media: Zoe Platt - founder of Short & Few - runs creative workshops in printmaking, alternative photography and bookmaking.
