Service Description

Join artist Lesley Woodhouse for an inspiring introduction to the art of scraperboard. The workshop begins with a guided overview of this striking black‑and‑white medium, followed by a demonstration of the essential tools and techniques used to create expressive, detailed images. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a range of mark‑making methods, exploring how different strokes, textures, and patterns can be combined to produce both realistic and stylised artwork. With Lesley’s step‑by‑step guidance, everyone will develop the skills needed to create their own scraperboard piece by the end of the session. This workshop is suitable for all levels, and no previous experience is required. Materials: Lesley will provide black‑and‑white scraperboard sheets. Participants should bring a craft knife and, if possible, Indian ink with a brush and/or an India Ink Brush Pen. A limited number of India Ink Brush Pens will also be available to use on the day. About your tutor: Lesley Woodhouse is an artist specialising in drawing techniques across a variety of media, including scraperboard, through which she creates both stylised and realistic black‑and‑white images. Her favoured subjects include birds, animals, and scenes inspired by her travels and the countryside around her.
