The students visited the church to meet the Rector, Veronica James, who studied at the London College of Fashion. Veronica gave a presentation and helped the students to study the churches’ collection of embroidered textiles and garments. Students drew inspiration from the work in the church and, along with further research into the topic of 'Enveloping Capes’ have produced an exciting range of designer capes.
Rebecca Sherrington fashion student who is modelling the cape designed and made by fellow student Jenisha Patel which is featured in the photo said: “I am excited about my future working in the fashion industry. I travel from Padiham, Burnley each day to study here in Skipton as no other college offers the amount of fashion study as Craven College. My tutors are ‘proper’ helpful, inspiring me! And, I am so excited – I have just been selected to go to Karen Millen in London for work experience in June.”
Joan Murray, Fashion Tutor said:“We are grateful to the Rector for inviting us to exhibit and promote the students work done at Craven College and for taking the time to share her knowledge about the fashion industry and ecclesiastical textiles".
The capes travel next to London COMICON!
