Service Description

This course is designed for students who have some experience of watercolour and would like to continue learning and exploring this beautiful medium further. You will explore techniques, watch demonstrations and be encouraged to complete your own interpretation of different subject matter. The watercolour journey is ongoing, full of surprises and steep learning curves! Forever challenging but deeply satisfying. Come along and enjoy painting with watercolour in a friendly and supportive environment. This is a course for students with some experience. You may have attended one of my courses or enjoy painting as a hobby and have tried some watercolour and are keen to learn more. If you are a complete beginner, then why not try out my beginner’s watercolour pencils course first. Objectives: • To encourage students to keep up with their practice and enjoy exploring this beautiful and versatile medium further with support from an enthusiastic and experienced tutor • Colour theory • Brush strokes and water control • Understanding different watercolour terms and your materials • Essential watercolour techniques • Make several watercolour studies to understand how to utilise and master the techniques demonstrated What is included: watercolour paint and paper *A round size 12 Graduate Daler Rowney Brush and mixing palette BRUSHES Please bring what brushes you have. We will be using 3 different types of brushes for our paintings and it would be beneficial if you can bring the following or something similar if you already have brushes. Bring them along to the class and I will be happy to advise. *Size 12 round (if you prefer to bring your own) Size 2 or 3 Rigger 1-inch flat Graduate Daler Rowney Brushes are a very economical range if you’re not sure where to start. I also teach using the SAA silver brushes Doors open 15 minutes before the class begins. The tutor will need time to set the class up. About your tutor: Amanda is an experienced Tutor with over 25 years of teaching in the Arts and Cultural Sector. She has particular passion for the versatility and fluidity of watercolour and enjoys inspiring others to explore their creativity and learn new techniques and experiment. Cancellations, refunds and exchanges: If you cancel your course or class 14 clear days or more before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your course or class less than 14 clear days before the start date, refunds will be given at the discretion of Craven Arts. No refunds or partial refunds will be given once the course has started. Craven Arts reserves the right to make alterations to the published details course as necessary and/or cancel the course. In the event that the course has to be cancelled or rescheduled, we will attempt to contact you with as much notice as possible and you will receive a full refund. Craven Arts cannot take responsibility for any of your travel and other costs and/or expenses associated with your attendance or planned attendance of the course (including in the event of changes or cancellation by the Craven Arts). You cannot resell or transfer your place at the course or class without the Craven Arts consent.
