Service Description
Suitable for beginners to improvers. William Turner was known as the painter of light. On this workshop we will take inspiration from Turner’s colour palette and techniques to experiment and enjoy creating expressive paintings in watercolour. Objectives: •To master and practice key watercolour techniques for creating expressive paintings • To understand which colours to choose for depicting the sun • To learn from Tutor demonstrations and enjoy playing and experimenting • To develop your own style and creative approach to the subject matter presented • To learn more about Turner’s as a watercolourist PLEASE BRING the following Materials and Equipment. I buy my materials from Skipton Art Shop. • Good quality watercolour paper it must be 300gsm (140lb) rough or NOT (cold pressed) paper. Bockingford 300gsm (ROUGH or NOT – Cold Pressed) either is good. • An old tea towel or soft cloth (used for regulating water on the brush) • An Apron • 2B pencil and putty rubber You can purchase single sheets of paper on the workshop if you prefer. Brushes Any good brand will do. Make sure they can be used for watercolour. If you have already purchased a set of brushes and have some then we can work with these. • Daler & Rowney Graduate 1 inch • Rigger size 0 (Artmaster Pearl Series 5) you don’t have to get the exact size but a Rigger is a great brush for some of the effects we are going to do. MATERIALS PROVIDED Watercolour paint will be provided but you’re welcome to bring your own if you’d like advice on how to use the colours you have got. We will be using Winsor and Newton’s Cotman watercolours. • The Tutor will supply you with a size 12 round brush. • Kitchen towel and masking tape • Spray misting bottle (if you have one bring it as I have some to share) • A mixing palette (bring your own if you prefer) • Masking tape • Drawing Boards Doors open at 10.15am to start at 10.30am Please bring a pack lunch (there are shops nearby if you prefer to purchase something) To find out more about your tutor Amanda Beck please visit her website: www.amandabeckartist.com Feedback from Previous Students: “Excellent demonstrations and guidance. Cancellations, refunds and exchanges: If you cancel your course or class 14 clear days or more before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your course or class less than 14 clear days before the start date, refunds will be given at the discretion of Craven Arts. No refunds or partial refunds will be given once the course has started. Craven Arts reserves the right to make alterations to the published details course as necessary and/or cancel the course. In the event that the course has to be cancelled or rescheduled, we will attempt to contact you with as much notice as possible and you will receive a full refund. Craven Arts cannot take responsibility for any of your travel and other costs and/or expenses associated with your attendance or planned attendance of the course (including in the event of changes or cancellation by the Craven Arts). You cannot resell or transfer your place at the course or class without the Craven Arts consent.
