When Words Fail

We invite artists to submit work for our upcoming exhibition When Words Fail. This theme explores the moments, emotions, and experiences that go beyond language—whether through issues of speech, expressions of loss and grief, political or environmental concerns, or the beauty of something indescribable.

Submissions may include:

Wall-hanging works (painting, drawing, photography, textiles, etc.)
Sculptural or 3D pieces
Book art, including zines

We welcome diverse interpretations of the theme and encourage artists to consider how visual and tactile forms of expression can communicate when words are not enough.

Key Dates

Entry Submission Deadline: Midnight on Friday, 10th April 2026
Delivery of artworks: 26th April, 4 - 6pm; or 27th April, 10 - 4pm

Public opening: 30th April, 11am
Preview Event: 1st May, 5 - 7pm
Exhibition close: 24th May, 4pm
Collection of unsold artworks: 24th May, 4 - 6pm; or 25th May, 10am - 4pm

Fees

Entry Fee: £20 for members, £25 for non-members

Commission Rate: 20%

Accepted media for gallery works* - painting, mixed media, photographic processes, original limited edition print, sculpture, textile, ceramics, assemblage, jewellery, sound/video

* due to the nature of the gallery, some spaces are multi-use, and works may need to be temporarily removed during the exhibition.
