Echoes of the Landcsape
A New Exhibition by Brian Burton
Thursday 9 October – Sunday 2 November
Open Viewing Event: 5-8pm | Friday 10th October
Free Entry Thursday to Sunday, 11am–4pm
Craven Arts House is proud to present Echoes of the Landscape, a compelling new exhibition by celebrated artist Brian Burton. This showcase invites visitors to explore twenty evocative paintings that delve into the textures and rhythms of the Yorkshire countryside.
Burton, whose work is rooted in the tradition of Romantic British painters, brings a deep affinity for the natural forms of hedgerows, watercourses, and rock faces. These richly layered images—most of which have never been seen outside his studio—offer a contemplative experience for those willing to look closely. Each canvas rewards patient scrutiny, revealing the complexity and emotional resonance of the land.
With a distinguished career spanning decades, Burton trained at some of the UK’s most prestigious art institutions before lecturing in drawing and design for nine years. He also spent over 30 years designing for the Yorkshire textile industry, rising from studio designer to Design Director. His work has been exhibited widely and is held in private and corporate collections across Europe, North America, and the UK.
This exhibition marks the first time these particular works have been shown at Craven Arts House.
Visitors will also have the rare opportunity to meet the artist in person—Brian will be in attendance most open days, working on new pieces and welcoming questions about his process.
Echoes of the Landscape is open Thursday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
