
words and pictures: the art of reading
Craven Arts House is delighted to announce Words and Pictures: The Art of Reading, a vibrant summer exhibition celebrating creativity, storytelling, and visual expression as part of the National Year of Reading.
Open to everyone, the exhibition will run from Thursday 2 July to Sunday 30 August 2026.
This inclusive exhibition invites artists of all ages and backgrounds to explore the relationship between words and images. From illustrations and typography to sculpture, mixed media, and conceptual works, both 2D and 3D submissions are strongly encouraged.
The exhibition celebrates reading not just as a pastime, but as a powerful cultural and imaginative act.

Entry Fees

Under 18s: £10

18 and over: £20
Artists may submit up to three pieces of work, with one piece guaranteed to be displayed.
Commission Rate
Any work sold during the exhibition will be subject to a commission rate of 20%, payable to Craven Arts.
