Service Description
Friday mornings, 9:30am - 12pm Six sessions 18th September - 23rd October £170 This course is designed for anyone interested in developing their practice into abstract art. Through guided experimentation, students will learn key principles and practical techniques to further their confidence and personal expression. Students will learn to: - Approach abstract art through playful exploration and experimentation - Develop expressive colour palettes - Use mixed media to build pattern, texture, and visual interest - Experiment with new methods of mark making - Develop balanced and engaging abstract compositions - Title, present, and discuss abstract artwork in meaningful ways Starting with small paintings, you will learn how to respond to your mark-making to find pleasing colour and compositional balance. There are no rules for abstract art; the process is intuitive and exciting. With each session, you will work on larger formats until you find one that really works for you. By the end of the course, you will see your own style and direction emerge so you can continue to develop your practice with confidence. You will need A3 300gsm watercolour paper to start with. Please bring any watercolour and acrylic paints, a range of brushes and some low tack masking tape. About your tutor: Bridget March - Artist of Abstract and figurative visual arts Full time artists since 2012, Gallery owner, teacher and lecturer at HE for 9 years at Leeds University of the Arts.

Cancellations, refunds and exchanges: If you cancel your course or class 14 clear days or more before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your course or class less than 14 clear days before the start date, refunds will be given at the discretion of Craven Arts.
