Service Description
16th September - 21st October Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30pm This is a six week course for writers who would like to take a deep dive into writing short and long form fiction. You will cover all aspects of the writing journey from finding your first line to characters, voice, setting, theme and plot, to completing your manuscript and submitting it for self or commercial publication. Suitable for all levels of experience. You'll gain an understanding of the mechanics of fiction and complete one of more short stories or chapters of a novel. Gain confidence in sharing work with fellow writers, receiving and acting upon feedback and getting used to mapping a route through the unknown road of a story. A pad and a pen is all that is needed unless participants prefer to work digitally. Any other materials will be provided. About your tutor: Nicola Hill is a Skipton based writer and painter with many years of experience teaching Creative Writing – both in the community and at degree and MA level for the Open university. Her first novel, Amelia and the Virgin won the Michael Schmidt award in 2011. Nicola has a PhD in Creative Writing and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Authority. She is currently working on her first graphic novel.
