Service Description
Inspired by our Summer Exhibition "Words and Pictures: The Art of Reading" Chris Newson will teach you both Chinese and Mongolian Calligraphy techniques for painting on a variety of handmade papers and objects such as fans and pebbles. Suitable for both beginners and those who attended the previous session. This session will revise beginners work on a range of handmade papers and extend it to ink and basic colour work. There will be homework and free brush and papers to take away. We will work from Chinese books and printed materials to link with the current exhibition theme. Students will use Chinese ink and watercolour paints to complete artistic designs on a range of artefacts and papers for framing. Your personal name will be written in Chinese for you. All equipment, paints, ink brushes will be provided. Please wear an apron the ink and paints contain gum. Gloves will be provided if you are allergic to the ink. Please note that the brushes are made of natural animal hair. About your tutor: Chris Newson is a Chinese brush artist, Craven Arts member and an active member of Yorkshire, Oxford and National Chinese Painting groups. Chris exhibits and sells locally and internationally. She has worked for 30 years in Education with 14 years learning and teaching Chinese style art.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations, refunds and exchanges: If you cancel your course or class 14 clear days or more before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel your course or class less than 14 clear days before the start date, refunds will be given at the discretion of Craven Arts. No refunds or partial refunds will be given once the course has started. Craven Arts reserves the right to make alterations to the published details course as necessary and/or cancel the course. In the event that the course has to be cancelled or rescheduled, we will attempt to contact you with as much notice as possible and you will receive a full refund. Craven Arts cannot take responsibility for any of your travel and other costs and/or expenses associated with your attendance or planned attendance of the course (including in the event of changes or cancellation by the Craven Arts). You cannot resell or transfer your place at the course or class without the Craven Arts consent.
