Art and Contemplation

In 2026, Craven Arts and Parcevall Hall partnered to present Art and Contemplation, a series of three seasonal exhibitions celebrating the landscapes, heritage and creative spirit of the Yorkshire Dales. Set within the peaceful surroundings of Parcevall Hall, the exhibitions encouraged visitors to slow down, reflect and engage more deeply with art.

Featuring work by Craven Arts artists including, Julie Bruce, Leticia Suarez,  David Crompton, Bridget March, Karen Blacklock and Shelagh Powell, the programme explored themes of nature, place, rest and renewal, enriching the Hall's longstanding commitment to contemplation and spiritual wellbeing.

Artists' Week

Building on the success of Art and Contemplation, Artists' Week offers Craven Arts members the opportunity to spend time at Parcevall Hall in a creative retreat setting.

Taking place over a week in January, the programme invites artists to step away from everyday routines, immerse themselves in the Hall's tranquil environment, and explore the practice of "slow looking". With time for making, reflection and informal exchange with fellow artists, Artists' Week continues the partnership's focus on creativity, contemplation and the restorative power of art.

25th - 31st January 2027

Artists can attend on a day or residential basis, with participation offered on a Pay As You Feel basis. Standard Hall tariffs are £108 full board (24 hours), £39 day retreat with lunch, or £27 day retreat with light refreshments.
